Sweet Potato

Sweetpotatoes are produced on approximately 20,000 acres in the state. Mississippi sweetpotatoes contribute $82 million dollars to the economy of the state. Total U.S. No. 1 production was approximately 160 million pounds. Presently, approximately 160 Mississippi farmers grow sweetpotatoes. Mississippi’s top five sweetpotato producing counties are Calhoun, Chickasaw, Pontotoc, Yalobusha and Panola.
